How to Earn a Reiki Certificate
A Reiki certificate is no less than a prerequisite for those interested in learning about this healing art, or in enhancing what they already know about it. Having earned such a certificate is a sign that a person has successfully learned enough about Reiki for that particular level and is ready to progress to succeeding levels thanks to having achieved such mastery. For beginners, it shows that they have mastered the basics and are ready to move on; for intermediates, it means that they may be ready to begin to heal others; and for the even more advanced, it shows that they may be able to begin to teach others the art of Reiki.
It is patently impossible for a person to learn Reiki all on his or her own. This is for the simple reason that Reiki knowledge is not something that can be learned by poring over manuals or books or watching videos or through practicing on one’s own. Although of course practice does make perfect, in Reiki as in many other things, experts must hand down the basics of this healing art. It must be taught to one, and cannot at all be learned all by oneself.
The first step on the road to getting a Reiki certificate is having a true belief in the basic concepts that underpin Reiki, along with eagerness to learn and a willingness to be open to the Universal Life Energy. Without these elements one will not be able to progress through any certification process - not even the most basic ones.
Certification processes can and very often do differ between those institutions and individuals that offer them. That said though there are quite a few things these disparate processes have in common. For instance, in the most basic level of certification, irrespective of whoever offers it, students are required to learn quite a lot of things. These include the most basic information about Reiki, such as its history and origins, along with other vital information such as its major spiritual precepts, its most basic principles, and so on and so forth. Students are also taught how to treat themselves - the most basic of treatments - and are made to interact with other students as well as their teachers.
In succeeding levels of certification, more advanced lessons are taught, building on the basics taught in previous levels. Thus students are taught key lessons such as how to begin treating others - which obviously cannot be taught if they themselves are oblivious as to how to treat themselves - a key lesson in the most basic levels. In some cases, students may already begin to become professional healers when they reach the intermediate levels. And at peak or Master certification levels, a Reiki certificate is issued that signifies that the holder is not only a consummate healer, but can also begin to teach others the key principles of Reiki healing and help spread the word about this particular healing art.
