Important Oxygen Fat Loss Information You Should Know

August 29, 2009 by admin

We all know that oxygen is needed in order to survive.  However, did you know that oxygen is not just an element that supports life? It also plays an important role in burning fat in the body.  If this comes as a surprise to you then read on to find out some important oxygen fat loss information.

Oxygen is found in the air around us. Every second we breathe in oxygen in order to live. What most of us don’t know is that oxygen plays a very important role in losing weight. No matter what exercise you do every day you use oxygen.  When oxygen is released from the body, you are burning fat. However, you should know that light exercises done in a longer period of time can help you lose more fat than doing intense exercises. The reasoning behind this is that the slower the oxygen is released, the more energy the body is burning over time thus burning more calories and fat.  For example, if you sprint, you are exerting a lot of energy quickly but if you run a marathon, you will exert energy slowly for a longer period of time thus burning more calories and fat.

The body needs sufficient amounts of oxygen in order to burn fat.  Therefore, the best thing you should do is to ensure that you provide oxygen to your muscle cells.

Here are some tips on how you can burn fat effectively:

Perform lighter exercises

Light exercises do not require too much bodily movements or strenuous activities. In addition, they will not leave the body feeling too worked up and craving something to eat. The technique is to perform light exercises at a longer period of time. For example, you can do regular 30-minute light exercise everyday and still burn lots of calories.

Never hold your breath

Exercising sometimes leaves us breathless and gasping for air? You can avoid this scenario if you learn to breathe correctly while exercising. Remember to inhale deeply and maximize your lung capacity. No matter how breathless you may get, don’t ever hold your breath. It will only prevent oxygen from being absorbed by your muscle cells.

Exercise outside

Do not be contented with going to the gym and exercising there. Instead, you should try to exercise in any open area. One suggestion is to exercise at the park where there are lots of trees and plants to supply you with sufficient amounts of oxygen. This way you burn more fat while enjoying nature at the same time.

Now that you know about oxygen fat loss it is time to apply it in your daily life. Remember that oxygen is not just for breathing but it is also an important part of every weight loss plan.

Protein Fat Loss Diet and Other Weight Loss Fads

August 28, 2009 by admin
Filed under Diets and Fads, Nutirition and Diet

Obesity is a major risk factor for hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, and other deadly ailments. As more and more people encounter problems with their weight, there are also many weight loss dietary solutions that have come out. Diets, exercise, pills, creams, and even surgical treatments all promise to help one lose weight effectively, easily, and fast. If you are still new in this department it helps to know about the protein fat loss diet and other weight loss fads.

It is not easy to lose weight especially if you have over 20 pounds to lose. It requires a great deal of patience, determination, and willpower on your part. Thankfully, there is a ton of information available; especially on the internet. Here are the most popular dietary solutions to compliment your daily exercise:

High-Protein Diets

Protein fat loss diets are very popular because studies have proven that too many carbohydrates prevent the body from burning fat. The original high-protein diet allowed unrestricted amounts of protein like those found in meet, fish, shellfish, poultry, egg, and cheese while high-carbohydrate foods were restricted like bread, potatoes, sugary foods, and pasta. High-protein foods keep blood sugar levels steady, so the appetite is easier to control, and weight loss occurs quickly.  Though today, we realize that a good balance is best and therefore even on a high-protein diet, you should still consume carbohydrates.

Low-Calorie, Low-Fat Diets

This is the most common diet plan that consists of cutting out junk food and concentrating more on fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean meats. This diet is very effective especially if you know how to control your cravings. However, make sure that you also include those foods with low glycemic index.

The Grapefruit Diet

According to research, grapefruits contain fat-burning enzymes which are vital in losing weight. This diet is composed mostly of grapefruits with the inclusion of specific vegetables and small amounts of protein.  This three-week diet provides the body with only 800 calories every day.

Food Combining

Now this is more of a lifestyle diet than a crash one. It includes combining different kinds of food in every meal. For example, if you have fruits in the morning you have to avoid eating foods rich in protein in the same meal. Many people lose weight this way and even those who have digestive problems recommend it. Compared with other diets, food combining provides a balanced diet everyday.

Protein fat loss and other dietary solutions are indeed very popular. However, make sure to consult your doctor first before you try any of the diet plans presented above. You can effectively lose weight once you know which diet is right for you.  It is also important to combine daily physical activity with a good, healthy balanced diet.  Losing weight quickly and with fad diets may result in a yo-yo dieting effect causing you to gain all of your weight back.  Consider lifestyle changes and slow weight loss so that you can look and feel good forever as opposed to a short period of time.

How to Eliminate Belly Fat

June 20, 2009 by admin
Filed under Nutirition and Diet, Weight Loss

Are you having problems hiding your bulges around your mid-section?  Have you been thinking about taking diet pills just to get slimmer?  Did you work out all day in the gym, hoping to fit into your skinny jeans?  Well, losing weight can be really stressful, especially if your problem area is your bulging belly.  It is usually the stomach that gets bigger and bigger in anybody’s body.  Normally, when somebody gains weight, it is the stomach that is very apparent.  Hence, a lot of individuals will do just about anything just to tone this part of the body.

There are many ways to make your body fit and healthy.  Losing weight should always be done in a healthy and advisable way.  You would not want to engage in any activity that will put your life in danger, no matter how good you feel that you will look.  There are several people who opt to get slimmer in a faster way, but unknowingly they are jeopardizing their lives.  Experts recommend losing between ½ to 2 pounds per week.  This is considered a healthy way of losing weight and very effective for long lasting results.

There are different ways of achieving your dream body.  However, you really need to keep in mind that this will not happen overnight.  It’s sometimes difficult to measure a ½ pound weight loss but if you look at the big picture that’s 2 pounds per month and 24 pounds in one year.  Here are few steps that will help you get through this dilemma.

Eat the right kind of foods.  Choosing healthy foods will help you control and manage your caloric intake.  You should plan your meals everyday.  Check the internet for some great clean eating foods and recipes. There are also other cookbooks that will give you ideas on what type of recipe that is low in fat and carbohydrates.

Drink 8-10 glasses of water everyday.  Water helps you feel full.  Experts say before you eat drink a glass of water in order for you to feel full.  In this case, you do not have to eat a lot because you feel satisfied.  Water prevents you from being dehydrated.  Try to practice this, and you will see the results on your body.

Monitor your weight.  Record your initial weight and take a picture of yourself in something tight before starting any weight loss program.  Try to record your weight and take a new picture monthly.  This will allow you to see the progress you’re making.  When you see for yourself that you’re looking slimmer, you will be motivated to exert more effort.  However, try not to get too excited and start weighing yourself almost every day, normally numbers fluctuate and believe me you’ll get upset for nothing.  There can be a 2-6 pound differential from morning to night or day to day.  Make sure to only weigh yourself weekly or even monthly.

Exercise daily.  If you want to shed more pounds, you really have to work hard.  Gym experts advise that it is best to perform in any physical activity, because it is beneficial if you want to stay slender.  Any form of exercise will help strengthen your muscles and body.  Aside from that, it also helps in flushing out toxins in your body, through excessive sweating.  As a result, you will have lower risk of getting sick.  When doing cardiovascular type exercise, consider getting a heart rate monitor.  This will help you stay in your fat burning zone.  Most often, many people work too hard and end up burning muscle instead of fat.  Also, keep in mind that exercise alone will not help you achieve your weight loss goals.  Diet is a key factor and some, including myself will say that it is the main factor.

Follow the after six diet.  This diet has already been proven and tested.  They call it after six, because you only get to eat before 6:00 PM.  After that, there is no more food intake, until the next day.  This is because of the fact that the body slows its digestion at night.  The more you eat within this period, the longer it takes food to digest.  Hence, the food remains stored in your body.  If you happen to be hungry at night, just drink a glass of water.  You will definitely have no problems with calories and fat in water.  It is also important that you eat 5 to 6 small meals a day to help your metabolism work faster to burn more calories.

Obviously there are still thousands of ways to get rid of extra weight.  Always bear in mind that you also need to have the right attitude to be able to achieve what you want.  No matter how hard you perform all of these steps, if you are too negative, everything will be useless.  Remember that having a positive attitude will help you gain confidence thus allowing you to look good no matter what your weight.

Liposuction
Today there are several types of medical interventions that allow individuals to drastically change their bodies. Liposuction is one of them. It’s an invasive medical procedure that doesn’t change one’s metabolism however it deals with areas of fat storage that could take years to get off. It’s quite expensive but you get quick results.

Stomach Bypass
This is a medical procedure that involves re-sectioning of the stomach or what we sometimes call a gastric bypass. Medically, it’s also called the Billroth procedure. This option however is done only on a case by case basis and is definitely not for everyone.

The Band
Also an invasive medical intervention, today we also have the “band” where you don’t have to completely resection the stomach but instead have a band surgically placed in your stomach to decrease it’s volume capacity. Unlike the gastric bypass, the band can be removed.

Using Pills
This weight loss category is not an invasive procedure. However it encourages clients to use medical science to aid them in losing excess weight. It may be in the form of prescriptions that allow the body to metabolize faster like Xenical or commercially available fat burners.

Body Shapers
Body shapers are instruments that are used in procedures that allow the client to melt fat away through heat and sound. Unlike surgery, these procedures are non invasive however you do need the help of medical experts for the procedure.

Jenny Craig
This is another form of diet program that allows the client to just buy portion-controlled, prepared food in. If you are the type that hates preparing food to eat, then this diet program can work wonders for you.

Food preparation is key for this program to be successful. However, people with medical conditions like diabetes, CHF, and ARF should consult with a doctor.

Go Vegan
This is not a program but a lifestyle change of choosing vegetables over meat. Although there are many forms of a vegan diets, they are all a healthier choice because they are natural.

Regular Exercise
This is the conventional 30-60min workout, 3 times a week with a sensible eating program. It may be done in the comfort of your own home or with a professional in a gym. It may be just regular sports activity as well.

* These are only some of the top weight loss methods available to you.  BodyPower does not endorse or encourage you to participate in any of these programs.  Always check with a health care professional before beginning any weigh loss program.

“The Five Simple Steps for Losing Twenty Pounds Quickly and Safely”

May 14, 2009 by admin
Filed under 5 Steps to Losing 20lbs

 carb_banner_med

By Registered Dietitian Jayson Hunter

It’s unfortunate, but true: Many women feel the need to starve themselves when they have twenty pounds they want to lose so they can look great for a special occasion. Whether it is a wedding, class reunion or some other special event there is a tremendous amount of pressure on women to look great. And this pressure often leads to the yo-yo dieting and weight gain that is so prevalent in our society today.

You know the pattern: You starve yourself and seem to drop a ton of weight fast. But then when you go back to your normal eating patterns you gain not only the weight you lost back, but you gain even more!

And it’s all the result of one thing: Starving your body of the nutrients it needs.

As you’ve probably read somewhere by now, your body’s metabolism actually burns more fat when it’s fed more often. So if you want to lose dress sizes and inches fast you need to be good to your body. And that means eating the foods it craves to help it melt fat.

So here are 5 simple steps you can follow to help you lose twenty pounds of pure fat. And these steps will help you keep the weight off and end – once and for all – the yo-yo dieting dilemma.

Oh, but before I forget, at the end of the five tips I will tell you about a website for you to visit where you can even more great FREE info and even a 30 day meal plan to make your life even easier!

1. Increase Non-Starchy Vegetable Intake

You have probably seen this many times before, but I guarantee it is one of the most important steps to losing weight. Why you ask? One reason is because eating non-starchy vegetables increases your fiber intake which makes you feel fuller quicker.

Another reason is that vegetables are energy consumers. It takes more energy to digest a vegetable than a type of carbohydrate. You could actually be in a negative calorie balance if you compared one carrot’s calories to the amount of calories it took to digest and utilize that carrot.

There are studies that show on average for those that ate 4 or more servings of non-starchy vegetables a day were the biggest losers when it came to weight loss

2. Protein Should Be At Every Meal

To optimally preserve your lean body mass while losing weight it is extremely important to consume some type of lean protein at every meal.

Protein is a great nutrient to prevent you from overeating because it will fill you up quicker.

It is also another nutrient that is energy costly, which means it takes more calories to digest and utilize protein than it does a carbohydrate.

Your best sources of protein are beef, chicken, fish, eggs, and dairy.

3. Eat Whole Grain Carbohydrates

Consuming whole-grain carbohydrates regulates your insulin levels and keeps your body from producing too much insulin. This, in turn, keeps you losing weight.

Large amounts of insulin promote fat storage and fast digesting or simple carbohydrates produce large amounts of insulin. You want to limit or avoid these fast digesting carbs.

By doing this you not only improve your health, but will speed up your fat loss.

Some studies believe that up to 70% of successful weight loss stems from keeping insulin levels in check and to do this means eating whole grains and avoiding simple carbs.

4. Eat More Healthy Fats

Consume adequate amounts of healthy fat foods such as olive oil, walnuts, almonds, or other Omega-3 products.

Healthy fats are great antioxidants. They also help with brain function and many other essential processes that take place in the body on a daily basis.

Essential Fatty acids also help prevent certain diseases such as heart disease and cancer. Some studies are starting to show that consuming Omega-3 products may boost your metabolism by as much as 400 calories a day.

5. Eat Frequent Meals

There is a direct correlation with eating patterns and volume of food consumed as well as insulin levels.

Eat 4-6 small meals day a day instead of the usual 2-3 large meals. Eating frequently will help regulate and boost your metabolism to burn more calories.

By eating smaller portions throughout the day, you tend to eat less food overall. You also control your blood sugars because, by ingesting a steady state of nutrients throughout the day, your body has no need to significantly elevate insulin levels to handle large amounts of food.

Now of course I do recommend you exercise while making these 5 changes to your diet because nutrition and exercise go hand in hand for fat loss. If you make these simple changes to your diet and take part in an exercise program that has you burning calories then you will drop dress sizes and inches quickly, safely and permanently.
